Only in SA do we still get ripped off, whilst the rest of the world is receiving relief, with the lower oil prices..this is an email I sent to SAPIA, after phoning Engen in CT.. Price per half litre oil?? Price per half litre oil?? This area is left to rhe individual oil company concerned. Because lubes are not regulated each company will then price their oils as they see fit. My assumption is that the current stock was produced when the price of crude was high and this could be a timing lag. When the old stock is cleared then the corrections in pricing will filter through. This is just an assumption I might be wrong and the oil company concerned is better placed to respond. Actions lex abnett 2014/11/21 To: [email protected] Good day, I would like to know why a half liter of engine oil has not come down in price, in line with the reduction of a liter of petrol? In the past, if the petrol came down so did my engine oil and two stroke oil for my machines. I have not forgotten that. I also still have the receipts. Why am I still being charged R28 odd for a half liter of engine oil? I phoned Engen in CT, and Mario said it was a combination of politics, and also that Engen was still on the old priced oil..how is that possible if the fuel price is down? Fuel is going down again, due to the Rand strengthening against the dollar, when can the public expect to see the engine oil price come down in line with fuel price reduction? Regards, Lex Abnett
