Only through honor will we receive anything good. When we dishonor - TopicsExpress

Only through honor will we receive anything good. When we dishonor we cut off all blessing from our lives. The High Priest Eli allowed his (grown!) sons to dishonor The Lord and His vessels and were cut off from their calling and blessing for all generations and Eli, through his lenience and tolerance, secured their horrible death. We must set our children up for life by causing them to show great honor to God and His vessels. Many would think that Eli had done all that he could. Could he have done more? Concerning Eli’s parental leadership God said, ...and he restrained them not (I Sam. 3:13). Eli did tell them of their evil and made it plain that he did not approve, yet that was not good enough to please God, because he still honored his sons above God (2:29). This same type of diluted discipline is causing many homes to crumble today. You and I have the Spirit of The Lord within us to raise men and women of God who please The Lord! “As we see from the Scriptures, it had become a common and proverbial expression that if someone wanted to refer to a prophet, he called him a “fool.” So in the history of Jehu (2 Kings 9:11), they said of a prophet: “Why did this mad fellow come to you?” And Isaiah shows (Is. 57:4) that they opened their mouths and put out their tongues against him. But all they accomplished by this was to become a terrible stench and a curse, while the dear prophets and saints have honor, praise, and acclaim throughout the world and are ruling forever with Christ, the Lord.” ― Martin Luther, Sermon on the Mount and the Magnificat “You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor and you will have war.” ― Winston Churchill
