(RECAP)of troy young appearance in niagara falls The evening got off to an interesting start when Troy Young, who recently got on the ballot and is running for the Peoples Political Party of Ontario, stood up and asked the moderator, Dean Demizio, president of the Greater Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce, why he wasnt allowed to participate in the debate. There are eight candidates running in the byelection — Andrew Brannan of the Freedom Party, Libertarian Stefanos Karatopis and independent Tim Tredwell being the others, all of whom came to the race late. Demizio said the byelection was called quickly and the chamber, which hosted the event, tried to do the best they could within the limited time constraints they were faced with. He said the chamber received a call from a candidate who claimed to have driven three hours to Fort Erie and wanted to be on the program. Young is from Toronto. We cant accommodate everybody who comes out at the last minute, said Demizio. You can talk to (visitors) at the end of the night. Young called it censorship at its finest. Its an all-candidates night not a some-candidates night, he said, which elicited some cheers from the audience. he continued to press the issue with Demizio, asking why four of the candidates are not allowed to participate,Young ended up leaving the event before it started.
