Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) -- see below and discuss with your counsellor if you are interested -- Central Technical School will be hosting the first of three OYAP information sessions regarding their one year OYAP programs for 2015-16 on: Wednesday January 14th at 6:30 pm in room 208. The school is offering one year OYAP programs in the following Skilled Trades: Cook, Electrician, Auto Service Technician, Carpentry, and Plumbing. Please follow the link for more information and to download an application form: schools.tdsb.on.ca/centraltech/programs/OYAP-Programs.php Graduates of the OYAP programs have experienced a great deal of success over the last few years, many gaining immediate employment in an apprenticeship after completing this program. Benefits: • Intensive 1 year program under an OCT qualified teacher who also holds a Certificate of Qualification in the appropriate trade. • 550 hours of in-class instruction that covers the basic apprenticeship curriculum, as well as giving students the hands-on training employers are looking for. • Co-op placement in industry. • Preparation to write Level 1 apprenticeship exemption exam if applicable. If you have any students who are within 8 credits of graduation, have most of his/her compulsory credits, have good attendance and are interested in an apprenticeship, please let them know about this opportunity.
