Ooh! Today should be interesting. I go for a bone SCAN (as opposed to a bone DENSITY test which I already had). The Bone Scan is where you go into radiology and are injected with a tracer which seeps into your bones and takes about 15 . Then you go home and return to radiology about 4 hours later where the machine reads what is really going on in the bones (as now are illuminated by the tracer). To be specific, (in my own case) to make CERTAIN that I do, in fact, have osteoporosis and NOT bone cancer. Ysee, cancer is very clever and is able to disguise itself as osteoporosis. Im not scared; just anticipatory...and fascinated by the whole process. In light of all this, I truly want to RECOMMEND that male or female - you schedule a Bone Density test at the very least. It does NOT hurt and only takes a few minutes. Get tested: especially if you are getting a little bit older, drink diet sodas, eat a lot of salt, and/or smoke. Those four being GREAT at degenerating your bones. Grrrrrrrr.
