Open Heavens One of the hallmarks of Jesus’ ministry was the ability to accomplish whatever He set out to do. Ranging from the feeding of the multitude (Mark 6:30-44), to the funding of His tax bill through the mouth of the fish (Matthew 17:24-27), to turning water to wine (John 2:2-11), and the list goes on, nothing seemed impossible for the Master to tackle. Job 22:28 even says, “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways, KJV”. A seasonal phenomenon that is commonly experienced during the raining season of the year is the sudden formation of clouds, which can quickly turn a bright and sunny afternoon into a dark one just before a heavy downpour of rain. This cloud formation prevents the illuminating rays of the sun from penetrating through to provide its bright light. As individuals, we also may be faced with times in life when there seem to be a cloud that has disconnected us from heaven. Moments that just seem like we cannot hear from God or our supplication is not able to reach Him. Job as a righteous man, struck with sudden doom could probably relate to this phenomenon as well as Jesus Christ, while He bore the sin of humanity in crucifixion, Matthew 27:46. Whatever may be the cause of this spiritual isolation, which could also be accompanied by intense physical agony or sense of neglect, it is important to realize that God always has a way of making all things work in alignment with His grand plan for us. For Job, it was a testament of his steadfast faith and righteousness before God, and for Christ it was necessary for this to happen so that humanity can receive the gift of salvation through Him, as the eyes of God cannot behold sin, Habakkuk 1:13. However, reflecting on the word of God spoken through Eliphaz, one of Job’s friends, in Job 22:28, it is God’s intent for us to command anything into existence as long as it is anchored to His word and declared in unwavering faith. Not only to command things in our favor, but also for us to be subject to the exhibition of His unwavering faithfulness towards us in a way that is visible to our immediate environment and beyond. After all, the spotlight is only shone on the principal act(s) during a stage performance. The ability to have a two-way communion with God which results in physical manifestations of His favor, healing, blessing, character refinement, etc, depicts an open heaven. More so, when God’s light shines on you, the need to broadcast God’s goodness will be absent because multitude around you need not be told of what God is doing in your life. The bigger advantage of this is that God does not selectively shine His light only on specific areas of your life, He illuminates everything that defines you, both physically and spiritually. As it was the case of Job, when the dark cloud of his misfortune finally passed, the scriptures recorded that his restoration surpassed his misfortune, Job 42:12-16. Perhaps you are passing though a cloudy phase in life, it is important to understand if this could be as a result of sin or God’s proof of your faithful stewardship to the accuser, the devil. Whatever may be the case, remember that God does not leave His children to perish in anguish, John 14:8. He is faithful to forgive, 1 John 1:9, and eager to restore us to glory according to His faithful plan, Jeremiah 29:11. Prayer Points: 1. Lord Jesus, with a repentant heart, I seek your forgiveness for any iniquity separating me from you. 2. Every power of sin that is promoting my separation from God, be neutralized by the blood of Jesus. 3. Every evil cloud preventing my supplications from reaching God, clear away now, IJN. 4. Every evil cloud that is preventing God’s blessings and voice from getting through to me, clear away now by the fire of the Holy Ghost. 5. Lord Jesus, help me to live in righteousness and shine your light on my ways, IJN. 6. Lord Jesus, let your light shine on my life, career, business, health, home, marriage, relationship(s), etc. 7. Light of God, single me out for favors that will turn my life around. 8. Let the light of God shine on me and let those that God have ordained to facilitate my success and breakthroughs locate me, IJN. 9. Every sanction of the devil, deflecting my opportunity for success, expire now, IJN. 10. I command the release of all my blessings, held behind evil clouds, unto me, IJN. 11. Lord Jesus, let your light shine within my life, that I may clearly know and execute your will. 12. Lord Jesus, make me a source of your light of salvation for my generation. 13. Let the glory of God envelope my life now, IJN. 14. I decree God’s protective hedge of fire upon my household, IJN. 15. I refuse to be a casualty in life due to ignorance, IJN.
