Open Interviews - Boys & Girls Club Positions: Site Directors- Full Time Assistant Site Directors Full and Part Time Youth Development Professional (YDP) – PART-TIME Education Directors- Part Time Prevention Specialist- Part Time Location: Numerous positions available reporting to various sites Report to: Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo 282 Babcock St Buffalo, NY 14210 Wednesday September 11, 2013 1pm-4pm Applicants: • Valid NYS Driver’s License for 3 years is required CLUBHOUSE DIRECTOR and ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: Directly responsible for the overall operations of the clubhouse. Demonstrate success through the completion of the Accountability Chart. Meet regularly with Quality Control Manager/Director of Program Operations to evaluate progress. Incorporate the goals for youth in the club in all decisions, behaviors, and actions; which include, creating a positive self-identity, developing core competencies, giving youth a self of community and civic involvement, increasing their awareness of good health and well-being, and instilling a good moral compass in order to build positive relationships. Create and monitor staff schedule as program necessitates, ensuring the correct ratio of staff and members to comply with grant requirements. Communicate with parents of members regarding progress, issues, permissions, and concerns at member pick-up time, Parent Social Nights and by telephone and e-mail. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to staff members. Must possess at least 18 college credit hours in education, music, physical education or art to fulfill DSS regulations. Bachelor’s degree in Human Relations or similar field preferred. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience working in a youth program environment required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Must possess and maintain a valid and acceptable NYS driver’s license according to standards of our insurance company and OCFS for operating club vehicle(s). Local travel required. HEALTH & LIFE SKILLS YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL: Sheldon TheDon Johnsonis part-time position require that candidates have strong organizational and communication skills - both written and verbal, experience working with youth ages 6-18 and the ability to plan and implement programs in the specific core area of Health & Life skills. Must be an active, energetic, hands-on person able to handle large and small groups and must possess a valid NYS driver’s license. HS diploma required. CPR and First Aid training is a plus. CHARACTER & LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL: This part-time position require that candidates have strong organizational and communication skills - both written and verbal, experience working with youth ages 6-18 and the ability to plan and implement programs in the specific core area of Character & Leadership Development. Must be an active, energetic, hands-on person able to handle large and small groups and must possess a valid NYS driver’s license. diploma required. HS diploma required. CPR and First Aid training is a plus. PREVENTION SPECIALIST: This position is responsible for developing and implementing programs designed to provide youth with the guidance and knowledge necessary to avoid delinquency and become a productive, positive member of the community. The Prevention Specialist counsels youth and parents on topics such as but not limited to safety and wellness, community relations, and conflict management. Must possess at least 18 college credit hours in Social work or psychology, to fulfill DSS regulation, a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or similar field required. Certification in Special Education or Mental Health Counseling preferred, minimum 2-3 years experience working with youths in individual and group settings required. Must be able to recognize and correct adolescent behaviors and teach cognitive skills. EDUCATION DIRECTOR: The Education Director provides educational programming to Club members at the various Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo locations. They assist staff members in lesson planning as well as implementing and overseeing all programs. They provide tutoring to Club members in order to further their academic progress, and help Club members to create goals in order to achieve lifetime learning. Responsible for implementing and supporting the Five Key Elements which are shown to produce a deepening level of impact with the youth, which includes; a safe, positive environment; fun; supportive relationships; opportunities and expectations; and recognition. Adapt teaching methods and develop lesson plans for club members of various ages, ensuring appropriate topics that are both interesting and educational. Execute academic strategy and achievement plans on a regular basis. Complete pre and post-testing on club members to measure their overall academic skills as needed. Provide additional tutoring services for youth upon request. Track club member attendance, ensuring prior ratio of staff and members. Create and update club bulletin boards on a regular basis with pertinent club information, member accomplishments, communications to member parents, and fun activities; involving club-members when possible. Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required. Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working in a youth program environment required.
