Open Letter To Kathleen Wynne~ We have a Seniors care Center here in Osgoode, Ontario that is need of a new Roof. The Management and Fundraising Chairman have been holding events to raise these funds for the last few years, and doing an amazing job !! Wendy Hill is awesome. I have a Question for the Premiere of Ontario! Can you look in your heart, and find the offset they need? Compared to what we are wasting on other things, the maintaining of adequate care and Housing for our Seniors, I feel, should be top of mind, this needs to be done NOW! We are Taxpayers in a Rural Area, that truly represents community, compassion and care for our Seniors, who have watched over us.! It is our turn to return the favor ! Please Help ! An excerpt from their site. =========================================================== Twenty eight years ago, a small group of residents from what was then called the Osgoode Township decided to dream big. Why did they dream? They saw families in need. They had compassionate hearts. They had the strength to face the challenges of their tomorrow. Today, in our rural community, we are the home to 100 Residents and their families. The Osgoode Care Centre is a non-profit charitable organization that is unique and sustained, in part, by the community that it serves. It provides specialized health care services in a clean, bright, cheery, rural setting that exudes an atmosphere for joyful living. Since we opened our doors in 1986, we have provided services to over 600 residents and supported more than 1200 families in meeting the health care needs of their loved ones. Today, the OCC provides a range of social and economic benefits that extend beyond Osgoode to surrounding areas such as Metcalfe, Vernon, Russell, Greely, Manotick, Kars, North Gower and so on. It is one of the largest employers in the rural region with a staff in excess of 100 that also provides a learning Centre for volunteers and students. It supports dental clinics, pastoral care, personal care services, pet therapy, food services along with inter generation counselling services. Thanks to the tireless effort of fundraising volunteers, local service organizations and the business community at large, funds have been raised through garage sales, event booths, family sports events, business community contributions and special events, musical shows, community gala events and personal charitable donations. During the past two years we raised sufficient funding to provide essential services for improving the environment for the Residents. But the roof came as a complete surprise. It was not until this past summer that engineers informed us that our facility urgently requires a new roof to replace the existing one that is more than 30 years old. Failing to do so could jeopardize the health and well-being of Residents and Staff.
