Open Letter to the DA Dear DA I am writing you to remind you of one thing, that is, South Africa is not America. Thus your political approach must be that is aligned with the history, culture and politics of South Africa. To convince people, particularly the majority, to make you government of the day, your anti-anc marching activities, criticising and taking the ANC government to court wont win you the hearts of South Africans, such wont connect you to the heart of my friends, family and community, which is still haunted and affected by the injustices of the past. South Africans are still hurting, I see them everyday, South Africans are suffering, I also see them everyday, South Africans are still discriminated and mistreated, I experience this everyday, that is black South Africans. To simply understand what they need, understand how they feel, get into their shoes, speak their language and resonates with their daily challenges. For the last 10 years you continue to dismally fail to connect to the majority. Failing you may ask, yes failing, one province and few municipal wards is just a drop of water in the ocean, chances are ANC might win back the Western Cape, and what will you fall back on? Limpopo, Northern Cape or Gauteng, the answer is simply NO. Limpopo will be largely enjoyed by ANC and followed by a new kid, EFF, mainly because they resonates with the people and their needs. Lastly you, just how do you think South Africans, that is the majority will trust you whilst your organisation is not even racially a reflection of the majority, Lindiwe Mazibuko and Mr Maimane are also a drop of water in the ocean considering that you had all the time and opportunities to transform yourself as an organisation. Lindiwe and Maimane, are black, but let me tell you, the majority do not really relate to them, there various reasons why, and you aware. In your recently launched election manifesto you said nothing but white elephant dreams, that wont make you win the hearts of the black South Africans whom you desparately need their vote. Some people might be gatvol with the ruling party, but just know that they equally connected to the ANC, emotionally. Perhaps you need to understand the emotional connection that people have with the ANC and find ways of how you can surpass it, like convincing a women who is already taken, a man needs to surpass the emotional connection the women has with the other man to win her heart, just maybe you might win the majoritys hearts. Yours purposefully, Mpho. M
