Open Notes It was suggested to me years ago that it is best to avoid discussing politics if I were to be a successful businessman in life. The moment you open your mouth and pick a side, you might find that it is the “wrong” one and jeopardizes the relationship you have tried to build. It seems we live in a world that wants us to pick a side – right or left, for or against, black or white, straight or not. These warring sides are struggling for power and care little about you or me, just that we are on their side. As these sides fight for power we find ourselves caught in the middle, in the crossfire, for we are expendable in their quest. We are ridiculed and belittled for not joining etiher. Have you had enough? Two thousand years ago, Jesus had. Both He and John the Baptist were chastised for not picking a side – but rather following God’s plan for the world. Jesus told these elitists that their days were numbered because of their blindness. Then he turned to the ones that could see the truth – the common people - and told them not to get caught up in these worldly struggles but to walk along with Him, to listen and learn from Him, to find peace and grace with each step you take with Him. Yes, you will be hooked to His yoke performing some miraculous work, but Jesus will be sharing the load with you . . . . making it seem light and easy.
