Open letter to Amateur Drag Race Harrisburg competitors... competition brings out the best and worst in every queen. Theres no avoiding it. Your hair, your makeup, your talent, everything about you as a queen gets reduced to numbers on a page. It is an emotional and humbling experience win or loose. As a queen who lost, and lost, and then when I was ready to give up but tried one more time... lost again... let me share something I learned the hard way. Pageants are much less about winning or loosing the night, and much more about how you react in the aftermath. Every pageant you enter is a chance to put your character and professionalism on display. When you win (and you will win sooner or later) win with genuine humility and grace. When you loose, it is so easy to sink low and play in the muddy accusations of shade and rigging and blaming others... THIS IS A SUREFIRE WAY TO RUIN YOUR REPUTATION. Rise above it and people will fall in love with your class and professionalism. I made PLENTY of mistakes in my time. One thing I did right when I lost Amateur Drag Race Harrisburg season 1 in the semi-finals was not stooping to the name calling, shade, and accusations. Instead I went home and had a good 48hr ugly cry, then I immediately starting using the little bit of a name I made for myself to create a benefit show for bullied, depressed, or suicide people... long story short that was a success. And now I look back on it as one of my greatest accomplishments. Before flipping out and saying things you will regret later ask yourself one question... do I want to be known as the queen who caused a scandle? Or do I want to be known as the queen who rose above it all
