Opening Up New Worlds! Of course, the best parts were never caught on video... long before CD/FW artistic director Kerry Kreiman thought to go looking for her cell phone camera in a pile of stuff across the room, this tiny child crawled away from her mother toward the dancers, and to everyones astonishment, pushed all the way up to stand tall on her knees and started imitating the bird arms that the dancers were doing at the time. Even her mother was completely dumbfounded. She was so beautiful! And she continued to watch and imitate the dancers with incredible focus for a long time. This multi-generational dancing exchange took place during a mini-version of Irresistible Forces for FWISD teachers at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History in Sept. 2012. Teachers and their children drew the slips of paper for the themes, and they then had an opportunity to tell their students about all the things they might be able to do at that years Day In The District. Dance Delivered in public spaces brings dance to daily life and experiences in ways which create truly unique and significant moments in time. And the most beautiful parts which were not recorded by anyone, are still in the minds eye of the people who were there... THATs really a lot of what the art of dance is about... a celebration of the unique moments of the HERE AND NOW. We can only continue to create these moments with the support of dancing partners like you!
