Opening day is almost here and NSD teachers are hard at work. At the beginning of the summer we posted articles about teachers working together to develop Common Core State Standards (CCSS) units and lessons. This week teachers have been meeting together in grade level groups for roll outs of all the work that was done on lessons and assessments in math. Teachers who developed the lessons are leading the sessions for their colleagues, all aimed at making our transition to Common Core Standards successful for our students. CCSS transition meetings will continue through the year, allowing teachers to discuss successes, challenges, and student achievement. Here are some photos of fifth grade teachers and principals from across the district trying out a new CCSS math lesson.
