Opening paragraph: When educators talk about creating a modern learning environment for students and teachers, the conversation must include leveraging the power of social media. For learners of all ages, being connected with like-minded, and outlier, people makes for a broader-based conversation, and therefore a deeper learning opportunity. To compare, todays modern learning environments are similar to the the ancient Greek Sophists, the Parisian salons, or even the conversations and learning at the more modern Algonquin Round Table; all the participants choose to be there, they often come from varied backgrounds and experiences, and all participate with enthusiasm to contribute to the greater good of learning and entertainment. The difference is that in today’s modern gatherings, the people may or may not ever meet face to face, and that we don’t have to be of a certain social or economic class to participate, democratically. Now to just keep writing!
