Operation Dead Mouse Drop....well I thought I had seen and heard - TopicsExpress

Operation Dead Mouse Drop....well I thought I had seen and heard of it all when it comes to management and control of invasive species...but couldnt help checking this out when I saw it on the ATT News Page. Dropping dead mice tainted with mini parachutes to hang-up in the tree canopy and theoretically kill invasive Brown Tree Snakes! I could only think...What a waste of money. The lesson is obvious...right there in that ole block-buster movie, Jurassic Park.....that Nature finds a way...escapes...all means and effort to control it...no matter how well thought out and no matter how well-funded. The best you can do....is Gardening in the Garden-of-the-Gods...a pretty nice essay I wrote one time for the Thorn Creek Nature Center Newsletter. I would suggest for the next phase...develop smart-drones capable of buzzing around and recognizing a brown tree snake...and like an avian predator...snatching them and bringing them back to Air Force base in Guam. If I thought of this...I suspect they are already working on it cause I saw a blurb about Amazon drones...no not the Amazon jungle...but Amazon the online mega-store...small drones making airlift deliveries of merchandise. Hmmm...last night at $6 growler refill special at One Trick Pony Brewery, I came up with the brilliant idea of brewery buying a horse and hiring someone to gallop down the streets of Lansing to deliver growlers...sorta like the old-days Pony-Express...of course...it wouldnt be cheap...but I bet there would be some folks out there willing to pay hefty extra charge...just to have their growler delivered by a One-Trick Pony messenger (I know I would). But then again...now thinking these little high-tech mechanized drones...big and powerful enough to carry a growler...programed to fly to some GPS coordinate and deliver...drone complete with mini video camera and live feed so whom controlling the drone...could verify it has reached its mission successfully. Rather see Millions of taxpayer dollars spent on the latter schemas...as opposed to Operation Dead Mouse Drop. Feel free to run with my conceptual ideas...just hoping you will cut-me-in for some of the profit once you get it working. news.yahoo/blogs/sideshow/operation--mouse-drop-163310851.html#
