`Operation Maoist Hunt; Kerala Style: Leading Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi reported from Nilambur Taluk of Malappuram district on Friday that a woman school teacher engaged in distributing education related pamphlets in two tribal hamlets of Kalikavu by travelling in a scooter was taken into custody by the state police suspecting that she was part of the Maoist Movement. She was released later saying it was a case of mistaken identity. The school teacher was distributing certain pamphlets issued by the state education department to create awareness among weaker sections about the importance of education. There were unconfirmed reports earlier that Maoists including women were frequenting the area. Some locals found distribution of pamphlets by the teacher suspicious and alerted the local police.
