Operation Peanuts Promise – We are optimistic that this weekend - TopicsExpress

Operation Peanuts Promise – We are optimistic that this weekend we will be taking in 13-15 Labs from a retiring breeder in MN. This group of Labs will be all male and a group of them are only 8 months old. Weve attached a couple of pictures of what looks to be coming in; these Labs, coming from the same location as the Operation Sunday Labs, are more social and look to be healthy, but the odds are pretty good that they will be in foster care longer than usual, just like the previous group, in part due to training and vetting needs. This is a brand new start for these Labs and we at L.E.A.R.N. look forward to seeing the individual personalities emerge, see them gain confidence, while soaking up the love that will set these Labs on a path to a happy and loving forever home. This is an unusually large undertaking for L.E.A.R.N. as we normally do intakes on an individual, or sometimes 2 at a time, from one location. Volunteers will be gathering together to meet for transport, bathing, hopefully nail trimming and ear cleaning depending upon the dog, socialization, and transferring these Labs to their respective foster homes. Descriptions and names of individual dogs should be coming in any day and once these Labs are in foster homes we will start updating about each individual dog. Each Lab that we take in gets Vetting done; we make sure the dog is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, we get them on preventatives, make sure that they are healthy and if they are not we work to make sure whatever the issue is cleared up before adoption if it is at all possible, and we make every effort to insure the dog is spayed/neutered before adoption. All of the incoming Labs need to be neutered. As you can imagine, vetting all of these dogs can get very expensive. On average L.E.A.R.N. will spend $450 per Operation Peanuts Promise Lab. Our adoption fees for a dog 7 months to 7 years is $250. Many of the Operation Sunday Labs that we took in back in November exceeded the $450 average. L.E.A.R.N. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization run solely by volunteers. All adoption fees and donations goes towards the veterinary care of the dogs. None of the volunteers or foster homes get paid for the care of the dog or any other aspect of volunteering. Please visit our website to read up more on our organization, donating, and volunteering opportunities – labadoption.org. We have been in existence for over 15 years and have saved and re-homed over 1500 dogs, all on a volunteer basis.
