Opinion time!!! So one of my facebook friends - Hannah Kress posted on a FB group that any rider can be a trail rider and any horse can be a trail horse. Pretty much equated us and our horses to junk. I personally think this is at best an ignorant view and at worst the height of stupidity. She is a horse trader and so it is even worse because she obviously does not understand the dangers of trail riding or even the barest idea of what a safe trail horse is at minimum!! Its a scary thought that she sell horses she deems great trail horses without a single clue as to what that really means. I do know that one horse we looked at that she was selling as a dead broke beginner safe trail horse was only lazy and a dead head and if put on the trails we ride here, would have probably turned in to a bucking sour puss at the work load we require of our horses. Aside from the insult, I was hoping to get some input from some other just trail riders about what they do and the horses they do it with. Maybe she can be educated on the subject?? My personal horse is as solid and steady as they come. She has saved me many times where other horses may have panicked and ended up at the bottom of a ravine or with a broken leg in a mountain stream full of rocks and swiftly flowing water. I cant brag on her enough. She isnt a lazy dead head, she is a calm natured and willing horse who does not freak at new things in her path. You really cant buy that kind of a horse just anywhere. And I doubt Hannah will ever truly know what I am talking about when I say that.
