Opinions, please! I received some feedback on my WIP and because I am still new to this, I was hoping to get your help on how to process it. My book is a bit of historical fiction and the feedback suggested I need more elaborate descriptions...about the space like the color of the walls, the clothing and all of tiny details because thats what is expected in historical fiction. I am not disagreeing with the feedback, and am very thankful to have it. Including enough description is often a challenge for me. I have to remind myself that what feels like too much to me is probably the right amount. But I am curious what you think...is there a requirement to include these kinds of lengthy, elaborate description because of the genre? Whenever I read, this genre or any other, I tend to skim over those kinds of paragraphs where there is nothing but line after line of minute detail, but maybe I shouldnt. Thoughts?
