Oplan Hatid at Villamor Airbase(please share): As of 4 am this morning, another c130 landed. it will be a very busy Saturday. A plane lands every 2 hours. Some FAQs i put together in case you decide to volunteer over the weekend based on my experience. A fellow volunteer is coordinating the OPLAN Hatid desk(they have a name for it now). Informal contact for Saturday is Leah Lagmay, 0918-927-4796. Please remember she is also a volunteer(not a DSWD employee) so she will be quite busy and may not be able to reply right away and point person may change in the afternoon. Operations are not super organized so expect it to be a little chaotic but people do have their good intentions in place. 1. Where is Villamor Airbase? Beside NAIA 3, across Resorts World 2. Where is the operation? Its at the Grandstand, they call it Base Operations, tell the guards at the gate so he can direct you where you need to go. You dont want to go where the good are being packed, you want to go where the C130s are landing with the tacloban survivors. When you get to the Grandstand Area, and parking lot is behind you, operation is to your left, look for tents. 3. Is there parking? Parking may be hard to find especially when a plane lands but you just have to wait a little bit for a car to leave. Or ask the men in uniform to help you find a spot. 4. Where do I go once I get to the Grandstand? Look for Oplan Hatid or DSWD info Desk. 5. Can I bring old clothes, relief goods? Yes. Give them to the Airforce lady officers where all the old clothes are. 6. What is the system(if any)? Register at Oplan Hatid desk. They will ask for your name, car and capacity and where you would be willing to go. Once your family comes, they will either page you or just best to hang-out by the desk. They will give you the exact address. Before you leave, please get the number of the current contact person at the desk in case your family changes their mind so they can advice you on what to do. 7. Can I just send my driver with my car? Yes, but best he has access to a mobile and be made aware that he needs to be aware of #6 in case his family changes their mind or gets rejected by relatives 8. What if I dont drive and want to help another way? You can help with processing survivors and be a runner for the counselors. When victims arrive, they are received by the counselors. Your job is go get them hot food, water, and clothes and tsinelas.
