Opportunity to win prizes!!!! Hi guys, its me again with politically biased but factually correct news. Most of us learnt recently that CAG unearthed a transportation scam in railways to the tune of 4300 crores. Basically, some private companies transported 25 mt (million tonnes) of coal through railways claiming it will be used for domestic use but ultimately exported the coal to China and Japan. The scam is because of difference in the transportation rates for domestic vs international use. Thats approximately half the story! It got me thinking. India is a coal importer state. Last year we imported around 100 mt of coal. Then why were these companies exporting coal. Well, the answer is simple. In India, coal is being sold at 3900 per ton while in the international market it is being sold at 5600 per ton. These companies sold coal in international market, from where we imported it back at international market price. Effectively, these private companies sold us our coal at international market prices costing the exchequer an additional 4300 crores loss. So, the total scam cost us 8600 crores. The question is : Which political party rules the state through which half of these exports were routed? Leave the answers in comments so that I can announce winners transparently. Top 3 winners will get a treat from me! Bonus points for guessing correctly the state as well. Some digging of internet for half-proof of answer will improve your rank. One who points out examples of how this post is biased will get an appropriate gift (e.g. Tshirt, dress etc.)
