Opposition Politics - Nigeria is the only country where the so called opposition party or parties capitalized on tragic situations and happenings to play their dirty politics and pointing fingers in all directions. In Kenya,when the shopping hall/super market was attacked and people were killed, everybody incuding the opposition in KENYA condemned the attack.There was no press statement by any old man,there was no attempt to pull the government down.In Malaysia now,all hands are on deck including those of the opposition in search of the missing air liner with 239 passengers. No press statement by any old publicity secretary, no accusations.If it were in Nigeria, one old man somewhere would have accused the ruling government of deliberately diverting the aircraft. Tragic situations all over the world are periods of sober reflections and mourning and not the time to play politics in the name of opposition. People who call themselves politicians whether in the opposition or not,are statesmen, patriotic elders ,who mean well for their countries whether they win elections or not.But the reverse is the case in Nigeria, where politicians want to pull the government down,make the country ungovernable,cause confusion in certain parts of the country,issue press statements every day calling on national lawmakers to disobey constituted authorities, making all manner of accusations, all in the name of politics -dirty politics; and few of their supporters have the mind to be talking and blabbing.If you kill everybody in this country, who will you govern? .Opposition parties all over the world are known for constructive and objective criticisms,suggesting good alternative policies and programs to move their countries forward.Obviously, the opposition in this country seem to be bereft of good ideas to even challenge the ruling government, other than violence. This is naked politics. We should all join hands with the government, think of what to contribute to move Nigeria forward ...stop making inflammatory remarks. Statesman are not known for making troubles but engaging the government constructively and intelligently,and not by insulting Mr President and his supporters every day.
