The seminar will be facilitated by Yadira Almodóvar-Díaz, Portfolio Manager and Ummuro Adano, Senior Technical Advisor for Capacity Building with AIDSTAR-Two, a USAID funded project led by Management Sciences for Health. Both Ummuro and Yadira have extensive experience working on organizational capacity building, work-force development and human resource management worldwide. In this seminar, we will discuss and analyze two critical aspects of team work –interpersonal communications and effective negotiation. We all live and work in an era where we are constantly engaging others, negotiating agreements, making joint decisions and working as teams to implement tasks and achieve results. This requires us to develop effective communications styles and sharpen our conflict resolution strategies to build productive relationships, facilitate the sharing of new ideas and best practices, and also accomplish professional and organizational goals and objectives. The seminar will help you identify communication gaps and strategies to address them, using a simple model on interpersonal communications. You will also review a framework to create win-win negotiations that lead to increased performance and satisfying team relations. Participants will also get an opportunity to use a case study and video to practice some of the models and strategies covered in the seminar.
