Opting Out Any concept in society is a group consensus. We see this evidence in how opinions affect fashion trends and peer pressure. If we dont like something that is happening, we have to, as individuals, stop agreeing to it. We know this works in social and political arenas. There is evidence that it works on a more ingrained scale. Why are sympathetic people shown on commercials to describe their pain in detail. The owners of the product WANT you to feel those pains. This should make people angry but they just accept it as a way of life. They may not even realize this is the point. I send those feelings BACK to the ones who tried to give them to me. If that is what they want to put out there, they can own it. If everyone stopped agreeing in monetary abundance and went back to bartering, the concept of money would not hold such power over society.f one did not give so much credo to dis-ease, many of the conditions could be alleviated with alternative measures. If one did not worship professional athletes, they would get away with murder. If one didnt agree with the current standards set on beauty, everyone cold feel more beautiful in their own skin. These are all things we collectively agreed upon. he are all things we still have the power to opt out from. Think about it. So very few of us can keep up with the level of requirements that these standards inflict on society. So we are left out of mix and wishing desperately to have more access. We are varying degrees of failures by societys standards. SO we are left out. But by our lack of qualifications, we are left out anyway and only left supporting the very few, Why not opt out, and still have our same standing but also have a sense of empowerment as well. I believe we are all dynamic! We are all intelligent and we are all giving less credit than we deserve. Why not make this our new standard; to value everyone and nurture their potential. We dont have to do anything outwardly except to opt out of such strong reliance on outer set of standards and start appreciating the intangible gifts that abound.
