Ordination Celebration Dear Brothers and sisters in Christ. I have been in Wellington since 1st. January 2011. I have been with the church as mission coordinator since 22nd May 2011. Over these three years ( nearly). I have seen the hand of the Lord in leading, guiding and holding me. All glory and praises to Him for His calling and placing me to serve Him in the local Chinese community. Over the past few months, the verse from Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. This verse keep repeating a few times by different people at different places. I was reminded again and again His calling to me to serve and trust Him. This verse meant a lot to me as it was the verse that challenges me into fulltime service 30 years ago. Though I have many failures and weaknesses, He always assured me His grace is sufficient for me and His strength is over my weaknesses. I want to thank my wife and my children for their support and encouragements over the years as family. I would not have venture into further without their support. I want to thank Anglican Chinese Mission for taking our family into this big family. Thanks for understanding, acceptance and support to me in the ordination journey. Special thanks to Rev. Kay for her leadership and encouragement in this journey of faith and humility. The ordination reminds all of us to move into a journey deeper bonding, caring and encouragements as grow together. We will continue to expecting together, serve together, encouraging one another in this spiritual journey. A passage of the scripture was given to the ordinands to reflect before we are tobe ordained. Our theme for the ordination retreat was” Rest in the Lord” John 21: 15 when they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” 16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” 17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!” Thirty over years later, the aged Peter wrote the letter as he reflects on the calling he received when the Lord restored him. Peter’s journey of ministry was all about.:- It is about calling not just duty. It is about responsibility not fulfilling people expectations. It is about accountability to the Master, the great chief shepherd. As Peter reflected and encouraged the leaders of the church. So he also speaks to me and to us all. He wrote. 1 peter 5: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. My personal heart beat:- I believe God has placed these important mandates in my heart when He called me into serving with Him in His ministry. I believe in the Biblical Mandate of men were created in the image and likeness of God in our daily living in the glocal time and space. Discipleship of biblical principles. I believe in the Great Commandment of love God , love people in pastoral care for the sick, weak and needy and mentoring them to become disciples for Christ.- Discipleship of responsible evangelism. I believe in the Great Commission of preaching the gospel to God’s children and all the people who are lost and continue the commission.-Discipleship of spiritual leadership. I believe that God is calling me to the priestly ministry with the Anglican Church and to serve the body of Christ in Wellington through priestly ministry at and beyond the Anglican Chinese Ministry.-Discipleship of missional mindedness.
