Oregons estimated 2009 population : 3.8 Million. Estimated number of homeless: .054% = 20,520. This writer believes it important to put the numbers into perspective... In 2007, it was reported by the federal government, that Oregon had a population of 3,641,056. At that time, it was believed that 16,221 people were homeless. That figure was based on the last federal census taken in 2005. As I talk to Eugenians, the common concern is that the economy has worsened and will continue to do so.. Bill of Classic Shine feals the same way. He doesnt believe anything has fundimentally changed to lift Eugenes economy.
