Organizers of the Malawi Music Awards have cited insufficient funding as the main reason behind their disputed classification of artists in the nomination process. The Awards have been organized by the Music Association of Malawi to recognize various artists for their contribution to the local music industry. Airtel Malawi has since donated five million kwacha towards the event. Speaking to Capital FM, the association’s President Chimwemwe Mhango said flaws cannot be completely avoided in the shaping of the event since it is the first of its kind in the country.
