Oriental Bay Owl(Phodilus badius), A wide spread species of owl in Southeast Asia. It is placed in the family Tytonidae as same as the well-known Barn Owl. The Bay Owl prefer well-watered dense forest, from lowland to +1,000 m. They usually perch above the water stream looking for prey such as rats, frogs. Their songs and calls sound unique as their appearance and behaviour. This species usually perch on an upright vertical branch with its huge talons. In Thailand the Bay Owls often photographed from the Southern Part of the country. Oriental Bay Owl has 2 secretive relatives, Congo Bay Owl and Sri Lankan Bay Owl which live in the different part of the Old World. Ive never seen any photo of them.
