Originally posted on My Oxnard Memories: Twin Centers opened in 1966. The first tenant to open for business at the mall, a Unimart discount store, was dedicated with an appearance by singer Petula Clark, on April 21, 1966. The festivities continued with an April 23rd appearance by Jackie Coogan and Ted Cassidy who were known as Uncle Fester and Lurch from The Addams Family. Attached are personal photos of mine that my father took. He owned the shoe repair in the Twin Centers when it was known as the Super Shopping Center when he moved his business there. He took these photos shortly before the grand opening of Unimart. In the third photo you can see the sign for King Arthurs Lounge which was in business from 1958 until January 1972 when it was destroyed by fire. I have attached an ad for King Arthurs dated 1958. By May 1969, Unimart was bought out by Disco Fair.
