Originally, this was an Army Air Corps airfield during WW2, - TopicsExpress

Originally, this was an Army Air Corps airfield during WW2, located at the end of Indian Trail off Route 66 in Helendale, California. Then for a short time it was just a regular old airstrip. then the government converted it for use as a test facility for stealth aircraft, drones and whatever else. What looks like the main airstrip in the picture (horizontal one) is not a runway at all. In the middle of it is a pedestal (underground when not in use) that would hold models of stealth vehicles. The main building housed radar equipment. Most of this base is underground and is considered an emergency facility in the event of nuclear war and other events. The original runways are at the top, in the shape of an inverted triangle. We werent approached but it was obvious we werent welcome.
