Originals, there is so much sentiment in us when we talk about Maple Park. Well, there are good reasons, but, Ill only tell of one, for those that do not know of its historical background. Maple Park, as far as we know, is the only Black community built from the ground up for us in North America. Our parents were pioneers and courageous men and women who had ideas and hope. We were fortunate as kids, each and every one of us who lived, played and worked in those early developmental stages. We had hard working folks who dared to cross the lines of Roseland and Beverly communities and gave us a chance to be. I, personally thank all those parents and to all of my friends of Original Maple Park, I say to you all, lets be gracious and humble and never forget those 60s and 70s of great fun, music, athletics, talent and memories.
