Orion has found an interesting correlation... * * * * * * * USA = HYPOCRITICAL when touting the US Presidential System. Lets be honest... When a rich country gives visa-free access to the citizens/passport holders of ANOTHER COUNTRY, it technically means that it sees that country as being at the same level and thus is essentially an EQUAL. The USA generally considers a lot of countries that use Parliamentary Systems to be their equals. And there are countries that have Semi-Presidential Systems and the rich ones among them are also considered equals. But the USA DOES NOT consider countries who happen to use full Presidential Systems as being equals of the USA! Consider this: The USAs vocal touting of their over-hyped PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM just doesnt hold water when you consider that the MAJORITY OF THE COUNTRIES that they give preferential VISA-FREE ACCESS TO happen to be countries that use Parliamentary Systems! And what about their fellow users of the over-hyped Presidential System? Look at the countries of Latin America... For the longest time, NONE OF THEM had any visa-free access! Only CHILE recently joined the list and thats because it is the most economically-stable and, generally speaking, the most economically-developed of the Latin American countries. Look at the only relatively large country to have been the USAs ex-colony: THE PHILIPPINES. We use a Presidential System. Were democratic and largely patterned after the USA... But NO VISA-FREE ACCESS. Nope. They force us to go through the FINANCIAL equivalent of an executive health assessment, proving that we are RICH enough and/or comfortable enough to want to return home to the Philippines after our visit. And even then thats NOT ENOUGH. But really, let us all please LOOK AT THE LIST OF COUNTRIES that the USA gives preferential visa-free access to: Andorra Australia Austria Belgium Brunei Chile Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Germany Greece Hungary Iceland Ireland Italy Japan Latvia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Malta Monaco Netherlands New Zealand Norway Portugal San Marino Singapore Slovakia Slovenia South Korea Spain Sweden Switzerland Taiwan United Kingdom No pure Presidential Systems in that list other than CHILE (which only got on the list last March)... Taiwan, France, and South Korea technically have SEMI-PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEMS. All the rest have Parliamentary Systems or in the case of Switzerland, a directorate or a form of council parliament. (Or in the case of Brunei, they have an absolute monarchy with a lot of oil wealth in a small easy-to-manage area. Brunei is proof that the USA doesnt actually give a rats bottom about Democracy. Its proof that the USA only cares about HOW RICH and HOW ECONOMICALLY DEVELOPED a country is, and it just happens thanks to the way parliamentary systems work that parliamentary systems tend to be better-run and tend to be economically better-off than countries using Presidential Systems.)
