Orion mission is on its way. NASA and America enter a new era as we set our sights on Mars. We were there for the launch at the media viewing area three miles from the pad. Orion is on a 4.5 hour mission to orbit Earth two times and on the second orbit the spacecraft will travel 3,600 miles away from Earth, taking it further than we have been in the past 40 years. Orion will return at 20,000 mph and reach temperatures of 4,000 degrees, twice as hot as molten lava. Orion will splashdown north of Hawaii and be recovered by the U.S. Navy.
