Orlando Pirates crowd favourite, Oupa Manyisa, has come out to share his views and thoughts about the captains armband which he now dons and, on the consistency he has produced for the Parktown-based outfit season after season. The diminutive midfield maestro recorded an impressive 51official matches played out of 53 matches last season, a record which he shares with the late Bucs keeper, Senzo Meyiwa. Ace who was bestowed with the captains armband following Meyiwa’s death, admitted that leading a club as prestigious as Pirates was no easy feat. “Look, this is obviously not an easy task. To be captain is hard enough but to be captain of a great institution like Orlando Pirates is an even greater responsibility. It’s taken me some time to adjust but I think im beginning to get used to it,” he told his club’s website. “We have a lot of leaders in the team which makes my job easier because we all get along and there is a good understanding of where we want the team to be. Lucky Lekgwathi remains the club captain, he is always there for me and he helps me a lot at training,” he added. Touching on his consistency, Manyisa simply said he attributed it to his hunger to play regularly. “Playing matches is what we live for as players. I would rather be on the field than to idle and not play at all. In recent weeks we have been playing a match every three days; I know this may look like a lot but we are professional players and football is our job,” said the Bafana international.e
