Orlando Pirates youth development program is back running, after being closed for a long period following allegations of age-cheating at the time. This will come as good news for the hordes of youngsters who hope to graduate from the club’s youth structures to the senior team and realise their dream of playing professional football and, most importantly, wear the jersey of their favourite boyhood team. After the closure of the academy, players who had been registered with Bucs’ development teams had to find alternative teams to play for, while an in-depth investigation was underway. But now it seems the investigation has been complete and, according to the club, the academy will be opening for the first phase of the trials in the Johannesburg and Soweto area on Saturday and Sunday. Trialists are required to fulfil the following: Must be born between 1995 – 1999, produce ID and Birth certificate (NO COPIES) and all trialists must bring own training kit (including soccer boots and goal keeper gloves). Trials are open for infield players and goal keepers . See below for full details: Trial venues: Saturday, 29 March Venue1: Siqalo Court in Bekkersdal Venue2: Braam Fischer Sports Complex (next to Tshepo Themba) Time: Starts with registration between 08:00 – 09:00 Trial venues: Sunday, 30 March Venue1: Moletsane Sports Complex Venue2: Umthombo Wolwazi in Dobsonville Time: Starts with registration between 08:00 – 09:00 3618
