Orly Noy (translated): Many eulogies written the late Arik Einstein tended overwhelmingly to describe him as the ultimate Israeli; the most distinctive representative of Israeliness. I dont know what kind Israel you see from your window, but a brief perusal of the news headline brings up countless features which, to mymind are more Israeli than Einstein. For example not prosecuting a single person for the murder of 13 Arab demonstrators but jailing three of those who attacked a Jewish terrorist. Or take for example Leftist lecturers who rationalise working in an institution plonked at the heart of the Occupied Territories. Or take for example digging a trench between [Jewish] French Hill and [Palestinian] Issawiya. Or take for example abusing [Mizrahi singer] Omer Adam and lumping together Shas with Kahane in order to eulogise Einstein . Each of those is a more authentic representation of Israeliness than the lamented Einstein and I say that totally and fully to his credit.
