Orson Scott Card: Thanks to yall who wrote that you read the 6 March Rhino Times article (now on line and repeated in many newspapers) by OSC. It is a scary summary of our foreign policy actions and the results to date. It parallels what I read in the foreign press. Here are just a few brief quotes for those afraid to read or acknowledge it: Russia could have kept Ukraine as a satellite - except the United States said no. And until the Left weakened Bush that message was obeyed. Obama believes America is a bully, picking on smaller nations and the cause of all the wars and evils in the world, and if we just let other nations find their way there will be peace and harmony everywhere. The truth: Big nations always take whatever they want from small nations, unless there is a bigger nation nearby that makes it too costly to do it. We are a nation founded on ideas, not ethnicity. Obama has no qualms about governing unconstitutionally, which he has done from his first day in office. We are a nation that has aspired to behave morally (in a New Testament manner) in our foreign affairs. We wanted to be the Good Guys, slow to go to war, but implacable once we decided to fight. Whenever Russia conquered, people were enslaved. Whenever America conquered, nations kept their independence (and we paid to restore them). Compared to every other nation in history, we have been the most benign superpower, ever. Without military power and the willingness to use it, America could not have maintained the peaceful world system that has made the West so rich. But Obama is in the firm belief that we were a force for evil, and he has systematically weakened us. He began with his world apology tour. He openly expressed his envy of dictators. He sided against Israel as far as politically possible. He has signaled weakness at every opportunity. The image of America, even among Muslims, has plummeted under Obama. Bushs foreign policy made us worth having as a friend...he kept his word. Obama keeps no promises, defends no friends - not even our own soldiers and officials under military attack. America has become an unreliable ally. Why should Putin negotiate with us about anything? Do you think China isnt looking and thinking: Tiawan is ours now whenever we want to take it. Obama dismantled our power and withdrew us from our role as protector of the small nations of the world. We will reach a tipping point down the line somewhere, and all this global prosperity will collapse. In the name of stopping America as a bully, they have opened the door to all the real bullies. .....and it goes on....
