Oscar is still unhappy about the Spaniard’s decision at the Club World Cup. New Napoli manager Rafael Benitez has come under fire from Chelsea star Oscar for the 53- year-old’s tactics during his timeat Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian is unhappy that Benitez left the attacking midfielder out of the Club World Cup final against Corinthians earlier in 2013 – a match the Blues lost 1-0. Oscar was dropped to the bench in favour of Victor Moses and the 21-year-old is clearly still unhappy about the incident. “I was really sad not to have entered that game. He knows he made a mistake, but everyone makes mistakes,” the Brazil international told R7 esportes. “I really wanted to play that game and I was sad that we lost.” In general it is recognised that non-European players consider the Club World Cup to be more prestigious that their counterparts from the continent. Therefore it seemed a strange choice from the Spaniard to drop Oscar for English-born Moses, in a decision that would simply add fuel to the fire for the already disgruntled Chelsea fans at the time. Supporters at the Bridge never took to Benitez when the boss took charge in an interim role from Roberto Di Matteo – partly believed to be because of the manager’s time at Liverpool. Yet despite this feeling from the stands and Oscar’s unhappiness at some decisions, the South American insists that Benitez was popular among the players and a was a good coach. However, the Champions League winner was never going to be held in as high regard as returning Blues boss Jose Mourinho, who comes back to the club thisseason following a six-year absence at Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
