Osun Gubernatorial Election: Issues & Concerns. 1. Osun state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) was replaced in questionable circumstance. PDP complained about Akeju, change was effected close to election. Why was Anambra state REC not changed following allegations of bias by APC? 2. Osun Police Commissioner was also replaced less than 72 hours to election. Why was this delayed? Why is it so in Osun election? 3. Osun voters are under specific instruction not to take photograph of their ballot paper. Why is this directive starting with Osun election? When did it become illegal to take photograph of ballot paper? 4. Osun state has been highly militarized. Security intimidation and harassment is unprecedented. Why is the federal government making a simple electoral transition complex? Consequently, it is my opinion that: a. Votes may not count; that unpopular candidate may emerge winner of Osun election. b. Electoral violence may occur in Osun state. Mass uprising may be a fallout of perceived electoral manipulation. c. 2015 general election may be negatively affected by fallout of Osun electoral manipulation. Votes may no longer count in Nigeria. d. Political actors may play into the hands of ambitious military officers. Military intervention may again reverse democratic experiment in Nigeria.
