Oudtshoorn Municipality change indicative of broader DA growth Date: 31 May 2013 Release: Immediate Today, the Oudtshoorn council passed a DA-driven motion of non-confidence in the Speaker, Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Five of the eleven ANC councillors, along with the COPE caucus, voted with the DA. After the Council meeting, the five ANC-councillors who supported the motion resigned and joined the DA. The ANC councillors were clear regarding the reasons for their resignation. They are fed-up with the bad service delivery, mismanagement and maladministration within the ANC-led municipality. This decision is indicative of the broader DA growth in South Africa. Across our country, we are finding more and more people who want to be part of the DA’s vision for an open, opportunity society for all. These people come from all walks of life and from many different backgrounds but they know that that where we govern we deliver more opportunities for more people. Under the leadership of the new DA Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Speaker, the Oudtshoorn municipality will witness first-hand what an efficient and accountable government looks like.
