Our $1.5 billion flood protection program--by far the largest project our small town has ever undertaken--is on track. Our congressional delegation, including Rep. Doris Matsui and Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, have moved mountains on our behalf. Im here in the Office of the Secretary of the Army for a check-in on our progress, and to express our gratitude for the deep engagement and commitment of the US Army Corps of Engineers to keep up the momentum to ultimate completion. We still have significant milestones to reach, but were making it happen thanks to the voters and property owners of West Sacramento who approved a series of tax measures over the past eight years to jumpstart the levee upgrades and prove our local resolve to get this done.
