Our 12 Days of Conservation comes to a bittersweet end today. We hope youve enjoyed learning about the Florida fish and wildlife species weve featured, along with the research and conservation efforts related to these amazing species. Wed like to wish everyone a happy holiday, and thank you for your continued support! On the twelfth day of conservation FWRI shared with thee: 12 subspecies of the grasshopper sparrow occur in grasslands throughout North America, and the Florida grasshopper sparrow is the only subspecies that breeds in Florida. Researchers are studying the endangered sparrow and its habitat to provide data to aid recovery efforts, and this video follows a team of biologists conducting research at Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area in Osceola County.
