Our #2 most viewed fish clip of 2014 was filmed by USFWS crew leader Nick Chambers on Rabideux Creek near Trapper Creek, Alaska. Although it takes a few attempts, these salmon are successfully bypassing a beaver dam by using a temporary side channel created by high flows and swimming through a grassy meadow area. Salmon have many strategies to navigate natural obstacles like beaver dams, including leaping over small drops and taking advantage of high flows, both of which we see here.
