Our 3rd annual ITG 5K is this weekend. We just spent the last 3 days in Chicago so that Madalyn, my amazing, courageous, sweet daughter could undergo testing that couldnt be done out here, desperate for answers. Well be hosting the 5K with her in a wheelchair connected to an IV pump. On Monday the 25th, Jessica, my other half of It Takes Guts, will endure watching Kobe, her kind, goofy, loving boy undergo yet another surgery to address issues caused by autoimmune disease. There is a hospital bed in their living room. None of this is OK. We have met so many families fighting the daily battles that come with chronic autoimmune disease, the unknowns and the never ending fear of what the future holds. We are working hard to find answers for these kids...treatments to help ease their pain, medications to slow the progression of their disease and eventually a cure so that they can stop worrying and start living.
