Our Betty OBrien is teaching an Expressive Drawing class with North Country Arts Center later this month. Details are below: -- Hello to all my class contacts, We’re teaching at the North Country Art Center in late May. Below is a link to take you to their web-site for class information and registration. northcountryartscenter.org/ “Expressive Drawing” is my entry and you can see a recent example by opening the attachment. This abstract rendering uses lines, values and colors to interpret the subject of birch bark found floating in an Adirondack lake. Multiple views were drawn with water soluble markers and then some marks were activated with water. To integrate the forms and and add weight and value I added washes of gouache (opaque watercolor) and watercolor ink. For my workshop, please note that I will provide Aquarius II paper, the water soluble pens and white and black gouache. You must provide at least one round or square watermedia brush to manipulate your lines and blocks of value in compositions. If you have various colors of any other watermedia, such as; watercolor, gouache, watercolor crayons or pastel, inks or any other water media, you can bring them to add hues to the value pattern. I will have many photos of plants, natural textures, animals, birds, etc. on hand. If interested, feel free to contact me for questions at [email protected] or 518-260-6764. When going to get course description and registration info from the North Country Arts Center be sure to scroll all the way down the classes and workshop page, under PROGRAMS heading, to find the relevant info for registration. I’m excited about teaching this and seeing participants interpretation of natural forms. I hope to see some of you there. Thanks, Betty O’Brien
