Our Client, an international risk financier of small and medium enterprises, is to establish an SME Fund as a new approach to financing and providing technical assistance to SMEs in Zambia. They are currently looking to recruit a Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to be based in Lusaka. Reporting to the Regional Investment Manager in South Africa, you will be responsible for leading operations of the organization’s Zambia Fund policies. As CIO, your responsibilities will include: implementing the business plan and strategy for the Fund for investing in SMEs operating in Zambia, leading transactions in the firm from identification, negotiations, closing, monitoring investments and finally exit thereof (the incumbent takes final responsibility for the transaction even though assisted by other staff members), representing the company and its clients as presented to Investment Committee on boards of portfolio companies, implementing corporate governance disciplines in investee companies, initiating investments in chosen areas of investment preference, management of resources both internally and externally, in addition to marketing the Funds’ investment solutions and building sound relationships with clients and role players. To be considered for this position you must have Bachelor of Commerce Degree or any other business related Degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in an established commercial banking or equity investment environment with a proven track record of excellent investment decision making capabilities.
