Our Client is a subsidiary of a leading global provider of design, engineering, program management, construction management, and operations and maintenance support. They provide facilities management support to the International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai, Egypt. They are currently seeking a Welder / Sheet Metal Supervisor to be based at the South Camp located at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. This is an 18 month contract position initially and then renewable for an additional 18 months. Reporting into the Facilities Superintendent, you will plan, organize, and supervise the work of welding and sheet metal craft workers. You will perform a wide variety of welding job related to facilities maintenance corrective, preventive and new work repairs and projects using welding machines, hand tools, precision measuring devices, grinders, cutting torches, drills, electric hammers and saws to complete jobs. You will perform pre-welding layouts work and jig preparation and select the proper equipment and material for welding projects. You will order and maintain welding supplies and equipment as needed. You will perform general mechanic repairs and will perform a wide variety of sheet metal work with skill and knowledge in repairing, fabricating, modifying, and installing sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies. The work also requires skill and knowledge in using tools and equipment required in the sheet metal trade and knowledge of shop mathematics and principles. You will maintain records of materials used; orders and purchases new materials. You will supervise, assign, and review the work of staff; set performance standards and evaluate staff; review performance evaluations prepared by subordinate supervisors; train, counsel, and discipline staff; conduct interviews and selects staff to be hired or promoted. You will supervise emergency repair jobs; inspect field work performed; plan and estimate maintenance and repair work; maintain records of work order requests and completion. You will analyze and investigate maintenance and personnel problems or issues, and prepare and compile written reports to the Facilities Superintendent with solutions and/or recommendations. You will organize the maintenance operations which are placed under your responsibility and will assist the planning team by giving any technical support for the preparation of the jobs in your discipline. You will report daily directly to the designated Supervisor/Manager and will ensure that the Company, Customer and Site Regulations and Policies are adhered to and respected, as well as approved operating procedures and standard industry practice during performance of maintenance operations placed under your responsibility. You will monitor and maintain equipment and special tooling placed under your responsibility to include upkeep of Company/Site vehicles. You will keep a critical eye on the maintenance program and, if needed, suggest and make improvements. You will ensure that the members of the team have the qualifications and skills required for the task entrusted to them. You will maintain accurate records of all work accomplished and will ensure accurate and timely completion of work orders. You will order materials for service and repair jobs within framework of work orders. You will troubleshoot, analyze and solve complex problems in the field. You will ensure that the transfer of knowledge by mentoring to the Egyptian workforce occurs properly within your team, and actively supervise tasks being performed. Finally you will train and direct subordinate Egyptian National staff in applicable areas of performance in accordance with Generally Accepted Industry and Professional Standards and the approved On-Job- Training Program. Knowledge and Skills: You will be an accomplished Welder and Sheet Metal Operator with experience involving commercial and/or residential maintenance welding and sheet metal work. You should have some supervision / managerial experience. You will have the ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop sheet metal parts and welding requirements from these specifications. You will be experienced in quality inspections with excellent organization skills and capable of working in fast paced, changing priority work environment. You must have the ability to troubleshoot, analyze and solve complex problems in the field. You will be results oriented and focused on outcome. Computer skills are a must; utilizing excel, word, Microsoft; and excellent communication and leadership skills. You must be able to work without supervision and must maintain a “safety & quality first” attitude. You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach and train a team of Egyptian nationals. You will be flexible, possess initiative and able to pick things up quickly. Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments. Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions. Finally you should possess a home country valid Driver’s Licence. The basic salary is paid in the currency of your citizenship and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. An 18 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, disability insurance and meals. In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc. The R and R entitlement is 38 days over the 18 month contract plus 12 public holidays a year.
