Our Daily Bread Make It Attractive | June 28, 2014 by: Dave Branon Col 4:2--6 The story is told of a young boy who, during a bygone era, was aboard a passenger train attempting 2 make money selling apples. He made his way thru the train car, saying, “Apples ! Would U like 2 buy an apple ?” When he got 2 the rear of the car, he still had a bagful of apples/no money. A gentleman who noticed his plight took him aside/asked 2 see 1 of the apples. He proceeded 2 go 2 the front of the train, polish it conspicuously w/a napkin, nd then walk down the aisle eating the apple/commenting on how delicious/refreshing it was. Then he told the boy 2 try again. This time, he sold every apple. The difference ? The apples had been made attractive 2 the potential customers. This story can remind us of 1 way we can interest others in the gospel of Jesus Christ: Make it attractive 2 them—show them the difference it has made in R own lives. Thats best done by following the words of Paul in Colossians 4:5. “Be wise,” he said, “in the way U act 2ward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity” ( NIV ). If we show kindness, love, nd compassion 2 others, those who observe us will wonder why, nd that may give us an opening 2 tell them about the beauty of God’s love 4 them. Dear GOD, U have given us so much by providing R salvation. Help us 2 make the gospel attractive 2 others by the way we shine Jesus’ light on those we encounter each day. The BEAUTY of a CHANGED LIFE can ATTRACT OTHERS 2 the 1 who MAKES us BEAUTIFUL.
