Our Dear Students, ONE FACT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CURRENT ASUU NATIONWIDE STRIKE The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved that each university should pay 25% of its internally generated revenue to the Government Do you know the implication of this new policy? Presently, our university, UNIZIK, makes up 10% of its personnel cost much of which comes from the school fees you pay. The school fees you pay will definitely and hugely be increased. Are you and your parents/benefactors ready for this in a country whose highest allocation to the entire Education Sector is below 12% of the national budget; whereas UNESCO recommends a minimum of 26% for any country. Ghana and South Africa budget over 30% to their education sector. NOW THINK ABOUT THESE… 1. How many of you have access to a conducive learning environment? 2. How many of you have functional laboratories, studios, lecture halls, indoor sports hall? 3. How many of you have access to internet facility taken for granted in sister universities around? 4. How many of you are taught using modern technologies such as power point, e-library etc? 5. How many of you have decent accommodation befitting human beings, not to talk of university undergraduates? 6. Do you not buy materials for even undergraduate research? 7. Why do most affluent Nigerians prefer to send their children overseas, even to Ghana? Our dear students, the list is endless. ASUU Struggle is for your future. Support ASUU to protect your future.
