Our Dining for Women chapter got together on Sunday to learn about the effects of the Rwandan genocide in 1994 on women in that country. In a span of 100 days, around 250,000 to 500,000 were raped and brutalized. Many of them contracted HIV and around 20,000 children were born out of rape. 20 years later, the women still live with the shame of the assault. Foundation Rwanda is an amazing organization that is providing counseling support to these women as well as support for education for kids born out of rape. Finally the women have a chance to look forward to life and happiness. This month, Dining for Women will fund Foundation Rwanda to provide counseling to 200 women and conduct workshops for daughters born out of rape. Check out diningforwomen.org/
